Last Saturday AJ and I chose to hear mass at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It felt really good to be back there after a long while. Of course, a visit to this Shrine won’t be complete without dropping by at Purple Oven, which I blogged about last year but surprisingly is still getting more page views than all of my food posts combined hehe!
Armed with a better camera now, AJ and I happily took pictures of the place while spending “more” time at their little cafe (I hope they get to expand this really soon). We used to just drop by this place to buy something, but this time, we decided to lounge a bit.
While AJ was busy with his book, I was busy spying at Purple Oven’s new products (which I’d love to try all if only I’m not watching my weight haha!).
These little pecan pies (P500 for 6 pieces) look really good! Its description tag says: You will go nuts over this single serve classic pecan pie. Heat it up and savor with some vanilla ice cream on top. Hmmm…sounds yummy!
Of course, I cannot not look at the cake fridge! Purple Oven is known for their unique and best tasting cakes, which they sometimes would supply for Starbucks! (I forgot to ask though, if they still do).
The loaf cake was moist and the citrus flavor was unmistakable in each bite. It’s not strong, mind, and I like how the lime flavor blended well with the mild sweetness of the butter loaf, and then capped with lots of pistachio nuts which I am simply mad about.
We really enjoyed our little stay at Purple Oven and would love to stay some more if not for the errand that we have to attend to. We’re grateful also to the super nice people there for letting us click our camera away the whole time we’re there. Thanks a bunch, Salyn, Val, Ella and Arnel!
